Mark Tsuchiyose, MD

LOCATIONS:

Dr. Mark Tsuchiyose graduated from USC School of medicine in 1983 and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital. He then completed his fellowship in GI at LAC/USC Medical Center. He returned to Huntington to complete his Hepatology Fellowship.

During his GI Fellowship Dr. Tsuchiyose sought special training in Holland and Japan to be more proficient in ERCP which then provided the skills to be recruited at his current practice.

During his 30 years of practice, Dr. Tsuchiyose has been an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco. He has been a leader at his primary hospital, Seton Medical Center in Daly City. He served as Section Chief of Gastroenterology, Head of the Nutrition Support Team, Chairman of Medicine. He also served on the board of the Seton Foundation. Dr. Tsuchiyose has always been an advocate for private practice, where physicians have the ability to put their patients first. He served as president of 3 separate physician groups to accomplish this goal.

Dr. Tsuchiyose’s passion now lies in treating the root causes of diseases rather than treating symptoms. This has led him to creating the SMART weight control program combating the epidemic of obesity and the metabolic syndrome. He also has a passion for Functional GI Disorders which requires a relearning of medicine from his traditional education.

Dr. Tsuchiyose strongly believes in a balanced approach to life. If you do not see him in the clinic or hospital you will find him on the golf course, tennis or squash court, ski slope or somewhere around the world. He also has recently discovered the magic of Aikido, a Japanese Martial Art that integrates a peaceful philosophy of life.

Treatment Philosophy
Dr. Tsuchiyose’s philosophy towards medicine is very simple. The patient always comes first. His sole purpose is to use his traditional training and his new approach of treating the root cause rather than symptoms for all gastrointestinal problems. A good example of this, he has been able to reverse fatty liver, NASH, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol by treating the root cause of a bad metabolism.
